Directions from the Public Health experts and the provincial and federal governments change daily so it is an ongoing challenge to provide current information; however, as of March 25 this is the plan:
As of the end of the day, March 25, the church will be closed to everyone. Churches were not included in the list of essential services to be permitted to be open at this time.
Community Breakfast – has been put on hold until it is again safe to meet in groups. OSHARE and Safe n’ Sound have joined to provide takeout meals and OSHARE will continue to provide a takeout lunch on Saturdays. Instead of the once a month breakfast at Georgian Shores United Church, we will use some of the breakfast budget to make a donation to OSHARE.
Food Cupboard – will be closed. Food can be accessed through the Salvation Army Food Bank.
Keeping in Touch – Rev. Gwen and Rev. Roy are putting together meditations, prayers, readings, etc that will be sent to those with email addresses and printed in hard copy and delivered to the post box of those without. These will also be posted on the Georgian Shores website and Facebook page. As well, links to other resources such as church services, hymns, meditations by others will be posted.
Rev Roy and the Pastoral Care committee along with additional volunteers will be making phone visits with not only those who are ill, but anyone who might be finding the time long while in “social isolation” and would enjoy a chat.
We are not alone; we live in God’s world. Thanks be to God.
