GEORGIAN SHORES’ RESPONSE TO COVID 19
In response to Public Health experts’ recommendation that social distancing and avoiding large groups are the most effective methods of controlling the spread of the Corona virus, Georgian Shores United Church Council passed a motion March 15 to cancel Sunday services for the next 2 Sundays, March 22 and 29. The situation will be re-assessed at that time.
Meantime, we will be looking at ways for the congregation to keep in contact virtually – through the website, email, or telephone visiting for example. We will be posting messages on the Georgian Shores website – http://www.georgianshoresuc.org – and Facebook page so check these sources regularly.
A reminder too that the church still needs to pay the bills even though programs and church services are cancelled. The church depends on your regular contributions and there are a variety of ways you can continue to make them. This may be a good time to enroll with PAR – even on a short term basis for the duration of this crisis. If you would like to do this, just contact the church office. Other options are to drop off postdated cheques or if you are out and about regularly, drop your envelop in to the office each week.
Our main concern is that everyone remain healthy. This too shall pass.
Also note: Leprechaun Luncheon is cancelled for March 17; Moms & Tots cancelled March 20 and 27. There are no group meetings. There will be no Community Breakfast on March 21.
For the health of the staff, the only access to the church will be by the parking lot door. By keeping the ramp and the 10th St. doors locked, this will give us a better idea as to who is in the building.
It is recommended you phone the church office (519-376-3890) before leaving home to ensure that there is someone there.
This is a trying time for all of us but remember our creed:
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God!
